Rooibos

Our Rooibos is produced in a small mountainous area in the region of the Western Cape province of South Africa as Cyclopia intermedia plant. Most of the teas are produced from the Camellia sinensis plant, but rooibos is a whole other story.

The name “rooibos” or “red bush” tea refers to the deep russet colour of the leaves after the process of oxidation.

The product has been popular in Southern Africa for generations and is now consumed in many countries.

Caffeine free

The Rooibos plant grows naturally without any caffeine. This is important, as it means it does not need to undergo a chemical process to remove the caffeine. It also means that anyone can drink it, including children & pregnant women.

Brewing and taste

We recommend that you follow these steps in order to get the best taste: 8Fl Oz/240ml of water below boiling at around 205ºF/95ºC for 4/5 minutes. The gold can be added before or after pouring the water according to your preference. It is common to prepare Rooibos in the same manner as black tea: Add milk and sugar to taste. Other methods include a slice of lemon, honey even ice to have it as a cold drink. Just do it in your own way.

Flavour

This straw-coloured plant has fruity notes which produce a rich natural sweetness and a slightly nutty taste. It is known for its mild taste and lack of bitterness found in traditional tea.

Storage

Keep it in a cold and dry place.
